November 29 marks the highly anticipated release day of me2’s first EP, “Message in a Bottle“. This Tokyo-based rapper has collaborated with renowned producers such as MASS-HOLE, DJ GQ, and NAGMATIC.
Produced by the prolific MASS-HOLE, the EP offers an eclectic blend of sounds, ranging from pure rap to melodic singing. One notable feature of this EP is the presence of Senninsho as a special guest, adding a unique dimension to the overall auditory experience. “Message in a Bottle” is a musical project and a full-fledged artistic collaboration. Renowned producers like DJ GQ and NAGMATIC, alongside the talented MASS-HOLE, have shaped each track to capture the essence of the hip-hop scene in Tokyo.
The final track of this project, titled “Kids,” is a true gem. In addition to MASS-HOLE’s unmistakable touch, this track benefits from the involvement of Senninsho, an artist already recognized for collaborations with MONJU and 1982s. The creative synergy between me2 and Senninsho is a fusion of talents, creating a track that promises to shake up hip-hop fans.
The visuals accompanying this project result from the versatile talent of MAЯU, a graphic designer and rapper from Fujisawa. Known for his work with D.L.i.P and his designs and animations for DOBB DEEP, MAЯU brings a unique visual aesthetic to me2’s musical universe. The expert mixing by MET, like MTHA2 and Atsu Otaki, and the impeccable mastering by Senna contribute to making “Message in a Bottle” a perfect sonic experience. The balance between me2’s versatile vocal performances and innovative beats makes this EP a contemporary masterpiece.
About Me2
Based in Setagaya, Tokyo, they create music inspired by the legacy of American hardcore hip-hop. Their lyrics blend English and Japanese, and their voice is soulful and powerful. They kick-started their career with the debut single “Tomboy,” produced by MASS-HOLE in 2022, and are emerging as new artists poised for even greater success in the future.
