An emblematic figure of Japanese skateboard culture, Shimpei Ueno takes a new step by creating TIGHTBOOTH RECORDINGS, a music label that extends his visual and stylistic universe. To inaugurate this project, he teams up with Japanese hip-hop legend SEEDA on the brand-new track “ADRENALIN 2“.
Twenty Years of Multidisciplinary Expression Converge Toward Music
After two decades shaping TIGHTBOOTH’s cultural identity, Shimpei Ueno, the brand’s director and founder, opens a new chapter with the launch of TIGHTBOOTH RECORDINGS. A professional skateboarder recognized both in Japan and internationally, Ueno has also established himself as a filmmaker, designer, artistic director, and producer, weaving connections between skateboarding, fashion, and video.
This new music label embodies the natural synthesis of his journey: a space for sonic expression freed from conventional formats, nurtured by the aesthetic and methodology he has developed over the years. The meticulously crafted sonic signature of his cult films in the “LENZ” series forms the foundation of this project, reflecting a constant obsession with the coherence of image and music.
“ADRENALIN 2”: An Organic Collaboration Between Two Pillars of Hip-Hop and Skateboarding
The label’s first release brings together SEEDA, a tutelary figure of the Japanese hip-hop scene, and Ueno’s distinctive visual universe. “ADRENALIN 2” takes its name from SEEDA’s eponymous track, which struck a chord with Ueno and inspired this collaboration. From the lyrical direction to the subtleties of vocal delivery, the track is the result of in-depth sessions between the two artists, translating a shared vision.
The music video accompanying the release follows the visual continuity of the “LENZ” series, merging video and music into a unified, immersive aesthetic.
