Japanese hip-hop has its pillars, and GAGLE is undeniably one of the strongest. Nearly a year and a half after their notable return with Plan G. in 2024, the legendary trio from Sendai—DJ Mitsu the Beats, HUNGER, and DJ Mu-R—is set to make a major impact. On April 8, 2026, they will release their eighth studio album, 3 MEN KYO, already hailed as an essential document of our time.
3 MEN KYO : Between Reflection and Connection
At the heart of this new project is the polysemic concept of “KYO,” which the group explores through three distinct lenses: the Mirror (鏡 – Kagami/Kyo), Today (今日 – Kyō), and the Bridge (橋 – Hashi/Kyo). Across 12 tracks, GAGLE seeks to capture the “now,” the point of convergence where the refined sensibilities of the three members meet. The album does not ignore the complexities of our era. Amidst the distortions, lights, and shadows of the times, the tracks vividly reflect the current spirit. The first single, “Rokuro Obi”, released on March 25, has already set the tone with polished production and an ever-impactful flow.
True to their technical standards, GAGLE has assembled a top-tier production team to ensure impeccable sound. The album features recording engineer Manabu Hiratsuka, mixing engineer Taiji Okuda, and the renowned Kelly Hibbert on mastering. Regarding collaborations, the trio hasn’t held back. They welcome MCs Jambo Lacquer and Tipleso from Osaka’s WARAJI collective on the track “Furo Myogi“. Jazz and soul-rooted singer-songwriter Hanah Spring also lends her voice to “Last Piice.,” a gem first unveiled in 2025 and presented here in a remastered version. 3 MEN KYO will be available on April 8, 2026, in both digital and CD formats.
GAGLE : A Legacy in Constant Evolution
Formed in 1997, GAGLE has left a mark on the history of Japanese rap with classics like “Yuki no Kakumei” and “Ubukoe“. After a long hiatus, this steady pace of releases proves that the group is in a period of booming creativity. Alongside GAGLE, each member continues to expand their creative horizons through solo activities, constantly enriching the group’s collective identity. For those wanting to experience the music live, GAGLE will embark on a series of performances, including dates at Machida Classix on April 11 and Yokohama Grassroots on April 13.
