The group Kandydown is now dissolved

The rap group Kandytown has made its mark on the Japanese hip-hop scene since its formation in 2012. With over three major albums and dozens of albums and singles released by each group member, Kandytown has left a vast musical legacy for its fans.

However, on March 8, 2023, the group officially announced its dissolution after a final LAST LIVE event at the Nippon Budokan in Tokyo. This event brought together thousands of group fans who witnessed their last performance. The group consisted of many MCs and producers, each with unique musical skills. This strategy allowed them to become essential in the world of J-RAP, collaborating with other artists while allowing each member to release solo albums.

As the dissolution date approached, fans had the opportunity to see Kandytown multiple times, with the feeling of seeing them together one last time. Two videos on THE FIRST TAKE YouTube channel allowed fans to see all members for the songs Curtain Call and KOLD CHAIN. Additionally, a few days before the LAST LIVE concert, they were featured in a live Session at Live Billboard live TOKYO broadcast on Abema TV.

The dissolution of Kandytown will leave a void in the Japanese hip-hop world, but their musical legacy will continue to resonate in the minds and hearts of their fans. Their music will remain an inspiration for many upcoming artists, and a testament to the lasting influence Kandytown had on the Japanese hip-hop scene.
