The FNCY collective has unveiled the music video for “GOOD 2 ME”, the result of a collaboration with denim brand EDWIN to mark the 45th anniversary of its iconic “INTERNATIONAL BASIC” collection. For this production, the group enlisted director Studio Ishi, who helms his first FNCY video in nearly five years. The result: a visual work steeped in references to the 1980s, the golden era of Japanese denim, while asserting a resolutely contemporary identity.
The video’s aesthetic draws from the imagery of that legendary decade, with particular attention paid to visual details. The performances by the group’s male members, ZEN-LA-ROCK and Chinza DOPENESS, are among the highlights of the video. Their makeup and outfits irresistibly evoke the iconoclastic spirit of RC Succession, a seminal figure of 1980s Japanese rock. Filming took place notably at magnif, a cultural space recently relocated to the Jimbocho district, lending the project an authentic Tokyo anchoring.
