A leading figure in Japanese beatmaking and a member of the legendary trio GAGLE, DJ Mitsu the Beats will release his new project NEW HORIZON on November 21, 2025. Built around the concept of “海とChill” (sea & chill), the album offers a deep immersion into a sonic universe blending chill beats, atmospheric lo-fi textures, and organic sound design. Comprising 10 tracks, this new work stays true to Mitsu’s identity as one of the most respected Japanese beatmakers while exploring a more contemplative, cinematic direction.
A “sea & chill” escape shaped as a concept album
On NEW HORIZON, Mitsu crafts an atmosphere in which the sea’s movements become a musical metaphor. Minimalist grooves, warm arrangements, and floating melodic layers evoke the feeling of walking along the coastline at dusk, creating an intimate mood that fans of Japanese instrumental hip-hop, chillhop, and lofi hip-hop will instantly recognize. The album stands as a substantial addition to his discography, highlighting his attention to detail and his ability to shape immersive sonic landscapes.

High-level collaborations: STUTS, reina, and more
Among the highlights of the project is “Stack Wave”, a long-awaited collaboration with STUTS, the acclaimed producer and performer known for merging MPC-driven performance with modern soul and electronic influences. Another standout moment, “Gtg” featuring R&B singer reina, adds a refined layer to the album. Her smooth, airy vocals float over a warm, rounded beat, reinforcing the project’s deeply chill aesthetic.
New Horizon, available on November 21, also shines through two meticulously crafted instrumental covers that deepen its seaside atmosphere. First, DJ Mitsu the Beats delivers a delicate reinterpretation of Norah Jones’ classic “Sunrise”, a track whose original version became a viral hit on Spotify. Then, he expands this refined sonic palette with a brand-new instrumental take on “Mermaid”, a hidden gem from Sade’s catalog, beautifully reimagined with a more minimalistic and meditative touch.
