Awich – Wax On Wax Off -Japan Remix
Awich has just released the music video for “Wax On Wax Off – Japan Remix – feat. R-指定, NENE, 鎮座DOPENESS & C.O.S.A.”. The track is taken from her latest album Okinawan Wuman, released in November. With this remix, Awich brings together major figures of the Japanese rap scene, giving a new dimension to the original song.
The album Okinawan Wuman has already attracted a lot of attention, especially because it is fully produced by RZA, the iconic member of the Wu-Tang Clan. This track closes the album and serves as a Japanese reinterpretation of “Wax On Wax Off feat. FERG & Lupe Fiasco”. Each featured artist expresses their own vision of discipline, training, and aesthetics through raw and honest lyrics.
The music video is directed by Hideto Hotta, who also worked on the original version. It features Awich and the four guest artists in separate sequences, each designed to reflect their individual personalities and lyrics. The theme of self-discipline runs throughout the video, portrayed through five distinct visual approaches. The result is a cohesive and powerful work, both minimalistic and deeply rooted in each artist’s identity.
