In the authentic streets of Tokyo, two artists have forged their musical identity by surviving the challenges of the underground scene. Today, ICHI (formerly RAW-T) and TOMO team up with production team THE BUFFALOZ to inaugurate a new creative chapter with the release of their track “ATID“, available since July 26th, 2025.
ICHI, an emblematic figure of Japanese rap, first made his mark in the 2000s under the name RAW-T as part of the legendary group ICE DYNASTY. His career then led him to Yellowhand Records, where he evolved as both a rapper and creative mastermind. His style is characterized by descriptive ability that sharpens with each phrase, a unique attacking force, and complex metaphors tinged with humor that “make you understand” his message with unwavering conviction. TOMO, a Tokyo native, began in the reggae universe in the late 2000s with the sound crew RACY BULLET based in Asakusa. Despite his participation in numerous compilations and the attention given to his remarkable voice, he had never released a solo album. Now at Yellowhand Records, he brings an authentic and powerful vocal dimension, capable of transitioning from melancholy to euphoria.
THE BUFFALOZ, a production duo formed by nabepro and DJ MASH, has distinguished itself through collaborations with Japanese hip-hop heavyweights like KOJOE, O-JEE, BES, and hyunis1000. Their unique approach to remixing, notably their reinterpretations of albums by BES, 椿 (Tsubaki), and SHAKU, as well as their regular releases of American hip-hop remixes on YouTube and Instagram, makes them a production team with a recognizable and innovative style.

“ATID”: A New Beginning
This collaboration marks a symbolic turning point for the three artists. ICHI abandons the name RAW-T to embrace a new identity with multiple meanings: starting from zero, the unity of the world, being first, creative solitude. This transformation marks the emergence of a “Far East patriot“. TOMO, for his part, also envisions a change of artistic identity toward TOMORI, symbolizing his desire to illuminate a dark world through his music. This evolution is part of a total renewal approach, alongside his longtime accomplice.
