Three years after making their mark on the scene with their 2022 project 「焦年時代」 (Shonen Jidai), PUNPEE and BIM are finally back with a new EP, proving that their chemistry remains intact. Usually active in their respective solo careers, the two MCs reunite under their friendly and laid-back alias Low Pressure Boyz (低気圧ボーイズ) to deliver a record that exudes artistic freedom and originality.

A compact yet rich EP: “Iced Out”

Titled “Iced Out”, this new project offers five brand-new tracks, showcasing the duo’s ability to surprise and create a coherent universe while staying accessible. PUNPEE, known for his cinematic vision of rap and storytelling skills, and BIM, praised for his charismatic nonchalance and smooth musicality, deliver an EP that is both fresh and experimental. Some tracks evoke the lightness of a summer afternoon, while others explore more introspective textures, all driven by meticulous production and mixing work. Among the highlights, “SHAMPOO” stands out as a true summer hit. Featuring Elle Teresa, a leading female figure in the Japanese scene, PUNPEE and BIM inject fun and sensuality into their universe. The track radiates sunshine, vacation vibes, and a Japanese twist on a West Coast feel.

As a bonus, the EP includes a cover of “Shonen” by GEISHA GIRLS, initially produced by the legendary Ryuichi Sakamoto. Recorded during the “Shonen Jidai” sessions, this track finally finds its place in the duo’s discography. More than just a nod, it serves as a bridge between different generations of Japanese music, where PUNPEE and BIM’s modern flows meet Sakamoto’s musical legacy. The visual identity of “Iced Out” is no afterthought. Renowned illustrator Minekō Ueda (上田三根子) created a bespoke cover, specially drawn at the request of the two artists.
