Gottz & MUD have officially released their second studio album, “VERTEX 2“, today, August 15, 2025. This highly anticipated follow-up to their 2020 debut “VERTEX” showcases the duo’s artistic evolution through a carefully crafted 10-track collection that highlights their chemistry and individual strengths without any guest features.
A Strategic Return After Five Years
“VERTEX 2” marks Gottz & MUD’s triumphant return as a unit after a five-year gap since their debut album. The project demonstrates their growth as artists while maintaining the core elements that made their initial collaboration so compelling. Released under the KANDYTOWN LIFE label, this album represents a more focused and mature approach to their collaborative artistry. The album builds momentum from previously released singles “Main Job” and “Run,” which have already established themselves as fan favorites. These tracks serve as perfect entry points into the album’s sonic landscape, showcasing the duo’s ability to craft memorable hooks and deliver compelling verses over diverse production styles.
“We Don’t Care” emerges as a potential hit single, showcasing the duo’s confident delivery over production by J-ViewCycle and THESIXDAYTONA. The track exemplifies their ability to balance individual personalities while maintaining a unified artistic vision. “Drunk” continues the collaboration with the same production duo, creating a cohesive sonic thread that demonstrates the album’s thoughtful sequencing and thematic consistency. Solo Showcases: Tracks 7 and 8 feature individual performances from Gottz (“Voice”) and MUD (“Drops”), both produced by Neetz, allowing each artist to shine individually while contributing to the album’s overall narrative.

No-Guest-Feature Approach Creates Focused Experience
Unlike many contemporary hip-hop albums that rely heavily on featured artists, “VERTEX 2” deliberately excludes guest vocals, creating a tight, focused listening experience. This artistic decision allows Gottz & MUD to demonstrate their versatility and chemistry without external influences, resulting in a cohesive artistic statement. The absence of features forces the duo to carry the entire album’s weight, showcasing their skills and collaboration across different production styles and tempos. All tracks were recorded, mixed, and mastered by Ryusei at ebonyeyes studio, ensuring consistent audio quality throughout the project. This professional approach to production creates a polished final product that meets industry standards while preserving the artists’ authentic voices. The album’s visual identity was crafted by sement for cover artwork, with artist photography by Atsuko Tanaka. This attention to visual details complements the musical content, creating a complete artistic package.
