Suchmos
Formed in January 2013. Suchmos draws inspiration from Black music genres like ROCK, JAZZ, and HIP HOP. All members grew up in Kanagawa. Vocalist YONCE was born in Shonan, Chigasaki, and represents Chigasaki. They have been active mainly through live house shows in Tokyo and events in Kanagawa and Shonan. The band’s name was taken from the nickname of scat pioneer Louis Armstrong, “Satchmo,” with the intention of becoming pioneers themselves. Members: YONCE (Vo), TAIKING (Gt), HSU (Ba), TAIHEI (Key), Kaiki Ohara (DJ), OK (Dr). In February 2021, they announced a temporary suspension of activities “to enter a period of training.” In October 2024, they announced their restart as a band, along with the decision to hold a solo live concert Suchmos “The Blow Your Mind 2025” at Yokohama Arena on Saturday, June 21 and Sunday, June 22, 2025.
LEX
A hip-hop artist from the Shonan area, born in 2002. With a naturally mellow voice, a striking contrast to his aggressive tracks, and raw, emotional lyrics, he has earned passionate support, especially among the younger generation. He began uploading music to SoundCloud at the age of 14, and in April 2019, at just 16 years old, he made a sensational debut with his first album LEX DAY GAMES 4. He quickly followed up with his second album !!! In December 2019, he released his third album LiFE in August 2020. In 2021, he appeared as a guest on works by BAD HOP and JP THE WAVY, released the collaborative EP LEXBEX with London’s BEXEY, and dropped another collaborative EP COSMO WORLD with Yokohama’s Only U & Yung sticky wom, further accelerating his momentum. In August, he released the single Nandemo Ichatte featuring JP THE WAVY, followed by his fourth album LOGIC in September. That same year, his work received high acclaim, winning him the GQ Men of the Year award for Best Breakthrough Artist. In April 2024, he released Akarui Heya, a collaboration track with his younger sister LANA, and headlined the hip-hop festival POP YOURS. In August 2024, he dropped his sixth album LOGIC 2, which included the collaboration track Chikara wo Kure with ¥ellow Bucks, and embarked on the LOGIC 2 TOUR.
