Disry, a rapper from Ehime, has just announced the release of his first album I AM, scheduled for September 24, 2025. Along with the announcement comes a promising tracklist, featuring collaborations with renowned artists such as NORIKIYO, CHICO CARLITO, SKRYU, and many more. The album I AM represents the culmination of a unique artistic journey. Disry has built this project around two distinct personalities that coexist within him. On one side, there is “Nagayama Taito”, his real name, which symbolizes his roots and inner world. This side was explored in the EP INSIDE, released in June 2025 as a prelude to the album. On the other side is “Disry”, the rapper, embodying his style and stage persona. This dimension was showcased in the EP OUTSIDE, released in July 2025. These two EPs serve as the foundation for “I AM”, an album that unites both aspects to reveal the true essence of Disry.

The creative process behind “I AM” drew inspiration from a singular geographical journey. Disry’s artistry has been shaped by three places that marked his life: Ehime, his birthplace; Okinawa, where he once lived; and Tokyo, where he currently resides. This journey across Japan is reflected in the album’s lyrics. Each place brought its own experiences and internal conflicts, which the rapper translates into his songs without filter. The album also features collaborations with various producers and artists, adding sonic richness that mirrors Disry’s diverse path.

Disry’s journey: from the underground to center stage

Disry began rapping at 16 in his hometown of Ehime. He quickly gained recognition in the local rap battle scene. His reputation grew through victories at the regional qualifiers of ULTIMATE MC BATTLE in 2014, 2017, and 2018. These wins confirmed both his technical skills and his stage presence. He proudly represents the movement 4THCOAST, which refers to the hip-hop scene of Shikoku, Japan’s fourth main island.

In 2017, Disry decided to move to Okinawa, an island in southern Japan known as a hotbed for underground Japanese hip-hop. This life change followed his encounter with MuKuRo and Tsuba-ki, two rappers of his generation who inspired him. In Okinawa, Disry fully immersed himself in the local hip-hop culture. During his stay, he released four EPs and mini-albums that solidified his reputation. In 2022, he held his first solo concert, VERSE DAY,” in both Okinawa and Ehime, marking an important milestone in his career.

In 2023, Disry moved to the Tokyo area to broaden his artistic horizons. Relocating to the capital opened the door to new opportunities. The year 2024 proved especially productive with two major releases: first, the EP Chase with KIKUMARU, then the album “WARENARI” with MuKuRo. In 2025, before the release of “I AM”, Disry and MuKuRo embarked on a joint “WARENARI” tour that took them to Okinawa, Ehime, and Tokyo.

A unique style blending technique and authenticity

Disry stands out through his fresh approach to Japanese rap. His style skillfully combines advanced technique with authentic B-Boy attitude. This fusion allows him to explore different musical styles while maintaining a strong identity. His lyrics reflect his personal experiences without embellishment. He cultivates an approachable image that contrasts with some of the more commercial rap codes. This authenticity remains one of his strongest assets.
